Cauliflower fritters

Cauliflower fritters with avocado, goat's cheese and srirasha sauce

I recently purchased the Nom Nom Paleo cookbook Food for humans. It contains a lot of super tasty recipes. Uova in purgatorio aka shakshuka, a Middle Eastern breakfast, has already become a staple recipe in our household. With her Egg Foo Young recipe, she inspired me to create my own cauliflower fritters. (Nothing wrong with Egg Foo Young. I simply like cauliflower better than spinach.) Super speedy spag bol (spaghetti bolognese)

Spaghetti bolognese with carrot spaghetti

Everything else you will find in the pantry. The whole meal takes about 20 minutes to make – I’m pretty sure it will take longer to order and pickup some take away. Read more…

Baking with banana flour

Banana bread made with banana flour

Recently my local health food store posted an update on their Facebook page saying they were introducing a new product: banana flour. I’ve never heard of banana flour before but I was intrigued enough to buy a pack next time I was at the shop. Banana flour is gluten free and high in resistant starch. It is made in Queensland, Australia from 100% Australian bananas.

The initial results have been fantastic, and this may be a game changer for Paleo baking in our household. Read more…

Feeding the brain

Another rainy day

I have written previously about how and why I changed my eating habits to follow the Paleo diet. My partner Simon had decided to lose weight and I was happy to support him by participating in his diet. At the time I was at a healthy weight (BMI of 23.1) and of good general health. Changing to the Paleo diet has however been an amazing (unexpected) journey for me, and has had quite a profound impact on my health, especially my mental health.  Read more…
